A. Christopher Engle, LUTCF, CFP®, ChFC®, AEP®
Chris began his financial services career in 1994. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin and has since earned a Fellowship in the Life Underwriters Training Council, the Chartered Financial Consultant designation from The American College, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant. He serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - Grand Rapids Chapter and is a Trustee for the Forest Hills Education Foundation. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, CEO Roundtable.
Chris employs a client-centered, holistic approach to financial planning including efficiently building assets, protecting assets from risk, and transfer of those assets to the next generation. This planning is integrated with overall life goals. His clients include professionals, retirees, business owners, and their families. Business owners have benefited from Chris' expertise in retirement plan design and implementation, key-employee benefit planning, and business succession planning.
Chris lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Kim and three children.

Brian C. Sandberg, ChFC®
Brian joined the financial services industry in 1999 after graduating from Cornerstone University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing. He grew up in Grand Rapids and attended Forest Hills Central High School. Brian has earned his Chartered Financial Consultant designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. Brian is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - Grand Rapids Chapter, as well as The Economic Club of Grand Rapids. He is also a committee member for the Forest Hills Education Foundation and serves on the Conerstone University Alumni board.
Brian works with his personal and business clients to create a comprehensive financial plan and set a personal benchmark. By setting a benchmark, we are able to measure the progress of our plan and the goals we have established. The goal of our comprehensive process is to create and grow assets, protect and preserve assets, and plan for the distribution of those assets during life and death. Brian resides in Ada with his wife, Chrissy, and children, Ashland, Adeline, and Malachi. Back to Top

Ryan P. Smith, ChFC®, CASL™, CFP®
Ryan began his financial services career in 2000 after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Spanish from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. Ryan earned his Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living designations from the American College, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He is a past member of the Aquinas College Alumni Board of Directors, is President Elect for the Board of Directors of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - Grand Rapids Chapter, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Grand Rapids Lions Club. He is a member of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids and the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, CEO Roundtable. Ryan was also named one of the 40 Under Forty Business Leaders by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in 2011.
Ryan works with his clients to help them create a financial plan and then implement strategies to work toward those financial goals. His clients include professionals, young families, retirees, business owners and their families. He also works with business owners in recruiting and retaining employees with retirement plan design, key employee benefits, and succession planning.
Ryan lives in Rockford with his wife, Dawn, and his children, Abigail, Claire, Landon, and Carter. He is an active youth soccer coach with various clubs throughout the Grand Rapids area. He also volunteers his time teaching classes at the Inner City Christian Federation.

Peter M. Smith
Pete joined Argus in 2007 following a 34 year career with 3M Company, a multinational conglomerate. His career experience includes business management, sales leadership, and international business development. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Seton Hall University and has completed executive management course work in Finance at Columbia University and in Marketing at the University of Minnesota.
He is a Eucharistic Adoration Committee Member at St. Joseph's Parish in South Lyon, Michigan as well as a Lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Colette's Parish in Livonia, Michigan. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He has been a Menttium Mentor, a WAA Youth Baseball Commissioner, and a St. Thomas Academy Father's Club Director. Over the years he has coached over 60 youth athletic teams in soccer, hockey, and baseball. His hobbies include bird feeding, reading, golf, and bicycling.
Pete works with his clients to help them achieve their financial goals through strategies that fit their lifestyle, means, and objectives.
Pete currently resides in South Lyon, Michigan with his wife of 39 years, Lynn. They have two adult married sons, Justin (Kate) and Ryan (Dawn) and six wonderful grandchildren, Abbie, Claire, Landon, Julian, Liam, and Carter.
Gary M. Townshend, CPA, PFS
Gary joined Argus in 2009 after a 34 year career in public accounting and more recently, an association with Argus that began in 2006. Prior to joining Argus, he partnered in 1990 with Steven Wilber to create Wilber & Townshend, P.C., CPAs and Business Advisors. At Wilber & Townshend, Gary provided attestation, accounting and tax services to a breadth of entities including, manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, recreational ski areas, ferryboat lines, film producers and Section 501 organizations. Income and estate tax planning were also provided to individuals and owners of businesses. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Grand Valley State University, is a licensed CPA and holds the Professional Financial Designation (PFS) designation sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Gary assists individuals and businesses in making financial decisions that enables them to pursue wealth. His process is to thoroughly understand an individual’s personal and financial goals, design an appropriate financial plan and provide ongoing effective communication.
Gary lives in West Olive with his wife, Cathy.
Joy L. Britton
Joy joined Argus in August of 2008 as the Client Services Manager. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance from Cornerstone University in May of 2007. At Cornerstone, she was the recipient of the 2007 Finance Award for being the top finance student in her class. Also, she was nominated to the National Dean's List.
Joy lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Aaron.
Lisa M. Wilkie
Lisa joined Argus in October of 2010. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Aquinas College with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Accouting in 2008. She focuses her efforts on Client Services and Administrative support.
